Abnormal visual search in mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.

چکیده
Our aim was to further characterize the clinical concept of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). We examined the status of visual attention-related processing in such patients in relation to healthy older adults and patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) by measuring performance on a computer-based visual search task. We tested 20 older adult control participants, 13 patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment and 12 patients with AD. Patients with AD and with MCI exhibited a significant detriment in visual search performance compared to the older adult controls. The deficit in visual search was greater for the patients with AD than the patients with MCI. The pattern of results displayed by the MCI group indicates that patients who appear clinically to suffer only from a deficit in memory also display a deficit in visual attention-related processing, which although not as severe as those with AD, represents a significant detriment in such performance compared to that seen in healthy ageing.

Identification of mild cognitive impairment disease using brain functional connectivity and graph analysis in fMRI data
Background: Early diagnosis of patients in the early stages of Alzheimer's, known as mild cognitive impairment, is of great importance in the treatment of this disease. If a patient can be diagnosed at this stage, it is possible to treat or delay Alzheimer's disease. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is very common in the process of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease. In th...

متن کاملP 62: Markers of Neuroinflammation Related to Alzheimer\'s Disease Pathology in the Elderly
Alzheimer Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder and the most common form of dementia. Increasing evidence suggests that Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis is not restricted to the neuronal compartment, but includes strong interactions with immunological mechanisms in the brain. In vitro and animal studies have linked neuroinflammation to Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology. Studies on marke...
متن کاملAbnormal verbal event related potentials in mild cognitive impairment and incipient Alzheimer's disease.
BACKGROUND It has been reported that patients with amnesia have a reduced effect of word repetition upon the late positive component of the event related potential (ERP), which peaks at around 600 ms after word onset. OBJECTIVE To study a word repetition ERP paradigm in subjects with mild cognitive impairment. SUBJECTS 14 patients with mild cognitive impairment (mean mini-mental state exami...
